The National Economic and Development Authority IV-A conducted Orientation and Team Building for Calabarzon Regional Development Council (RDC) Private Sector Representatives (PSRs) last 22-23 January 2015 at RJS Resort, Brgy. Pansol, Calamba City. The program includes orientations, action planning workshop and team building.
During the orientation, OIC-ARD Fidel Udarbe presented the Calabarzon RDC functions and emphasized on the role of PSRs on regional development. Mr. Donald James Gawe, Division Chief of NEDA IV-A Policy Formulation and Planning Division provided overview of the Regional Development Plan (RDP) Midterm Update 2011-2016 and highlighted the importance of evidence-based planning. Mr. Valter Morada, OIC-Division Chief of NEDA IV-A Project Development, Investment Programming and Budgeting Division briefly discussed the RDC Endorsement Process and the RDC’s mandate to review proposed projects that are necessary to achieve objectives of the Calabarzon RDP. The Regional Project Monitoring and Evaluation System (RPMES) was discussed by Mr. Cesar Palacio, Division Chief of NEDA IV-A Project Monitoring and Evaluation Division. He underscored that the primary objective of the RPMES is to facilitate project implementation, conduct problem-solving sessions, monitoring of project implementation and reactivation of local project monitoring committees.
In the action planning workshop, the PSRs identified their roles in the development plan implementation, project development, monitoring and evaluation. They identified priority activities in the development process and areas of convergence to address the issues and concerns discussed in the PSRs National Convention. They discussed issues and concerns to be raised during the next PSRs National Convention.
For the team building activity, OIC-RD Luis Banua together with Mr. Alvin Olanday of NEDA IV-A facilitated two team building exercises designed to strengthen collaboration and camaraderie among the PSRs and RDC Secretariat.
The activity culminated with a visit to the Calabarzon Regional Government Center (RGC) and DILG IV-A’s office, the first occupant of RGC.
The activity was attended by 13 out of 18 PSRs and the RDC Secretariat.
