RPMC IV-A's Tourism Infrastructure Mapping Workshop
Mr. Ray Michael Kevin Abuso of the RPMC Secretariat presents the guidelines on plotting tourism infrastructure on Google Earth Pro.

The Regional Project Monitoring Committee (RPMC) Region IV-A conducted a Tourism Infrastructure Mapping Workshop on 28 July 2016 at RDC Conference Room, Marcelita Building, Calamba City. The workshop aims to: 1) prepare tourism infrastructure map for Calabarzon; 2) show and monitor connectivity of tourism roads, major roads and tourist spots in the region; and 3) validate and organize their spatial location. It was attended by a total of 16 participants representing two implementing agencies and five provinces.

The DPWH Region IV-A provided the reference maps in GIS format and data of the DOT-DPWH convergence projects. The participants made use of Google Earth Pro in plotting road projects and tourist spots in their area. The representatives of Cavite and Laguna provinces presented their initial map outputs during the plenary.

At the end of the workshop, the participants agreed on the action plan: 1) conduct of technical meeting to harmonize GIS programs used and standardize file conversion to format readable in GIS program; 2) the core team on tourism mapping will be composed of the participants; 3) DOT to provide icon guidelines and list of accredited establishments; 4) DPWH to update status of roads and kilometer post markings; and 5) complete plotting of road projects and tourist spots on 29 August.
