The Calabarzon Sectoral Committee on Macroeconomy and Development Administration endorsed to RDC to support the advocacy of the Local Economic Development (LED) to local government units in the Region during its second quarter meeting on May 9 at the RDC Conference Room, Calamba City, Laguna.
The LED is a process by which public, business and non-government sector work collectively in a locality to create better conditions for economic growth, employment generation and improved quality of life for all. The LED aims to strengthen the economic capacity of a locality to improve its economy and the quality of life for all.

The Department of the Interior and Local Government as the LED proponent is pushing for the widespread adoption of LED in the LGUs to improve competitiveness and ease of doing business. This will result to a paradigm shift of the LGU from a typical political service provider to corporate mindset providing opportunities to create community wealth and strengthening local autonomy.

The DILG Region IV-A requested RDC endorsement to support the advocacy campaign to the LGUs from city, municipality down to the barangay level to come up with collective interventions to establish LED strategies.
