The National Economic and Development Authority Region IV-A, in coordination with Orient Integrated Consultants, Inc. (OIDCI), initiated the conduct of the Training on Estimating Provincial Economic Accounts in Calabarzon on October 8-11, 2018 at SEDA Hotel, Nuvali, Santa Rosa City, Laguna.

The four-day training aimed to equip the participants with knowledge, skills and methodology on how to estimate provincial economic accounts. NEDA Regional Director Luis G. Banua emphasized the importance of having provincial economic account estimates in aid of policy and planning formulation, and decision making at the provincial level.

Topics discussed were the Philippine and regional product accounts, potential uses of these information, methodology for gross value added, and implicit price index, and use Stata and CS Pro softwares for data generation.

ARD Gina T. Gacusan of NEDA Region IV-A in her closing remarks acknowledged the active participation of the trainees and the comprehensive discussions and workshops provided by the resource speakers. She said that to be fully familiarized of the processes taught, they should continue to practice it even after the training.

The training was attended by a total of 70 participants, composed of representatives from the five provincial governments of Calabarzon, PSA, DTI, DA, NEDA, and the academe.
