The Calabarzon Regional Development Council (RDC) approved its FY 2019 Priority Thrusts and Activities during its 4th Quarter Full Council Meeting on December 6, 2018 at NEDA Region IV-A, Barangay Milagrosa, Calamba City, Laguna. The priority thrust aims to guide the members of the strategic and common key activities to be accomplished within the year in support to the implementation of the Calabarzon Regional Development Plan (RDP) 2017-2022.
Among the key activities include: a) promote Regional Gender and Development; b) conduct Regional Cultural Summit, and RDC Outreach and Convergence Activities to Less Developed Municipalities; and c) mobilize Local Government Units (LGUs) on the First 1000 Days Program.
During the meeting, the Council approved among others, the: a) 2019 Work and Financial Plan and Calendar of Activities; b) FY 2020 Priority Projects for inclusion in the Regional Development Investment Programming; c) 2018 Regional Development Report Guidelines; d) Training on Road Safety Advocates; e) Batangas State University’s Inclusive Social Innovation for Regional Growth; f) Calabarzon Investment Priority Areas 2019-2022; g) RDC Forest Park Implementation Plan; and h) Updated Calabarzon Regional Physical Framework Plan 2017-2046.
Likewise, the RDC endorsed the: a) FY 2020 Tier 2 Priority Projects for Inclusion in the FY 2020 Budget; b) Formulation of Calabarzon Flood Control Masterplan; c) Strict Implementation of Tricycle Ban along National Highways; d) Preparation of Feasibility Study for Polillo Group of Islands Road System; e) Results of the Policy Review on No Balance Billing; f) Support on the Institutionalization of LGU Income Classification; g) Comprehensive Land Use Plan Preparation; h) Pasig-Marikina River Improvement Project Phase IV for NEDA-ICC Approval; i) Implementation of Morong Bypass Road Project; j) Calabarzon GovNet Project; and k) Convergence Program for Relocatees in Barangay Balacbacan, San Juan, Batangas.
The Council also confirmed the RDC-Execom resolutions endorsing the New Centennial Water Source-Kaliwa Project Dam, and Supporting the People’s Initiative Amending Sections 5, 6, 7 & 8 of Article X of the 1987 Constitution to strengthen local autonomy.
RDC Chairperson Governor Hermilando I. Mandanas, in his message, emphasized the role of the RDC in coordinating the development efforts in the region and encouraged the members to be proactive in the implementation of the key activities of the Council.
