The Calabarzon Regional Development Council (RDC) conducted its 6th Community Outreach and Yakap-Bayan Mobilization Program last June 26, 2019. The RDC Chose Barangays Amuyong and San Miguel in Mabitac, Laguna as beneficiaries. This year’s outreach assembled the largest delegation of partners since the RDC Community Outreach Program started in 2017, with a total of 30 line agencies, 9 private sector organizations, 3 local government units, and 1 state university.
Sec. Dennis Hernandez, Presidential Adviser for Southern Tagalog and Engr. Ladislao Andal, RDC Co-Chairperson led the community outreach. Sec. Hernandez stressed the importance of bringing national government programs and services closer to the people. Meanwhile, Engr. Andal used the opportunity to introduce to the community the role of RDC in boosting economic growth and social resilience as the lead socio-economic planning unit in the region. He also commended the active participation of all government agencies and private sector partners in the program.
The DOH Region IV-A, AFP-Southern Luzon Command, Provincial Government of Laguna, and DepEd Region IV-A teamed up to provide medical and dental services to priority patients and other target beneficiaries.
Food packs, rice, and snacks were given to 69 drug surrenderees, 126 senior citizens, and 100 farmers by DAR Region IV-A, DSWD Region IV-A, NIA Region IV-A, Municipality of Carmona and Regional Tripartite Industrial Peace Council. The Association of Senior Citizens and Barangay Health Units also received electric fans, monobloc chairs, and medical equipment and supplies from CDA Region IV, DOT Region IV-A, LTO Region IV-A, PNP Region IV-A, Rotary Club of Siniloan, and the First Laguna Electric Cooperative. Meanwhile, Ang Hortaleza Foundation Inc., BSP-Lucena, CSC Region IV-A, DBM Region IV-A, DBP-Southern Tagalog, DOE-Energy Policy and Planning Bureau (EPPB), Laguna State Polytechnic University (LSPU), NEDA Region IV-A, Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers-Batangas Chapter, PSA Region IV-A, Regional League of Local Planning and Development Coordinators of the Philippines, Inc., and Soro-soro Ibaba Development Cooperative distributed school supplies, hygiene kits, and dental kits to 281 students in the two schools.
The Kabisig ng Kalahi committed to a 120-day feeding program in partnership with DSWD Region IV-A while DOE-EPPB offered assistance to electrification in the community and LSPU donated books through its Silid-Aklatan Program.
The DENR Region IV-A, DA Region IV-A, LLDA, and Philippine Coconut Authority Region IV-A gave seedlings and awarded seedling certificates to the Municipal Agriculture Office of Mabitac for the benefit of 100 farmers in the two barangays.
PSA Region IV-A, SSS Sta. Cruz Branch, PAG-IBIG Luzon-San Pablo Branch, LTO Region IV-A, DTI Region IV-A, CDA Region IV and DAR Region IV-A offered consultation services while TESDA Region IV-A and Ang Hortaleza, Inc. gave free hair-cuts, hilot, and hair-coloring services.
POPCOM Region IV gave a lecture on ‘Responsible Parenting and Family Planning,’ while DTI Region IV-A conducted a seminar on Consumer Education, and LSPU on ‘EdukAksyon: Food Preparation, Nutrition and Hygiene Seminar.’ Ang Hortaleza, Inc. held a three-part program on nutrition, cooking contest, and livelihood seminar. Price subsidy programs such as NFA Region IV’s Tagpuan Program for cheaper rice and DTI’s Diskwento Caravan for cheaper basic commodities were also set-up during the one-day activity.
The Community Outreach Program is part of the efforts of the Council to accelerate economic growth and development in 34 municipalities in the geographically-isolated and disadvantaged areas – or Calabarzon Convergence Areas.
