Dir. Luis Banua, RDC Vice Chairperson and NEDA Region IV-A Regional Director, calls the meeting to order.

The Sectoral Committee on Macroeconomy and Development Administration approved its banner activities for 2020 during its fourth quarter meeting on November 8 in support to the achievement of goals in the Calabarzon Regional Development Plan (RDP) 2017-2022 to pursue swift and fair administration of justice, ensure people-centered governance, and establish just and lasting peace.

The banner activities or projects are the establishment of a regional justice hub or zone; conduct of RDC outreach activities and caravan of government agencies’ programs, projects and activities (PPAs); and conduct of capacity building program for the RDC members.

The establishment of a justice hub or zone will facilitate a practical approach in administering justice in the region by harmonizing justice procedures and systems. It aims to improve access for judicial processes and better facilitate the issues and concerns of the five pillars of justice system, namely: law enforcement, prosecution, the courts, corrections, and community.

Meanwhile, the conduct of RDC outreach activities and caravan of government PPAs aim to alleviate poverty and counter the influence of insurgents in communities, make government services accessible to communities, and increase public awareness on government PPAs and services. These activities are also in support to the implementation of Executive Order No. 70 on the Whole-of-Nation-Approach on Attaining Inclusive and Sustainable Peace.

Lastly, the conduct of capacity development (CapDev) program for RDC members is vital to build and enhance the capability of members to effectively and efficiently implement development plans, programs and activities of the government. The CapDev includes trainings on development planning, project development, monitoring and evaluation, effective presentation, newsletter writing, and secretariat services. These trainings will also be conducted to enhance the capacity of key LGU personnel in view of the increase in the Internal Revenue Allotment starting in 2020.

The implementation of the SCMDA banner activities is in support towards achieving the long-term vision of a “Matatag, Maginhanawa at Panatag na Buhay para sa lahat”.
