The Sectoral Committee on Economic Development of the CALABARZON RDC invited during its second quarter meeting on May 13 the president of the Semiconductor and Electronics Industries in the Philippines Foundation, Inc.. the founder of Enchanted Kingdom, and the founder of the Oryspa Spa Solutions, Inc. The meeting with these three major industry players was initiated by the RDC to have a better grasp of the impact of COVID-19 on the manufacturing and tourism industry.

The three businessmen were asked to share the problems that they are encountering and their recommendations on COVID-19 on how government can best help the industries recover from the economic crisis.

They recommended for financing assistance through loan packages with zero-interest for short-term loans, low interest on medium term loans, grace period on the payment of taxes without interest and penalties, increased investments on digital infrastructure and increased support to local products, among others.

The consultation ended the Committee endorsing to the Regional Inter Agency Task Force the request to consider changing the MECQ status of Laguna to GCQ.
