The CALABARZON Sectoral Committee on Macroeconomy and Development Administration (SCMDA) during its 3rd Quarter Meeting last August 11, 2020 called for support from government agencies and the private sector in the implementation of the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys).

In the light of the COVID-19 health crisis, the Office of the President directed the National Economic and Development Authority and the Philippine Statistics Authority to fast track the implementation of the PhilSys to ease identification and delivery of government services to qualified beneficiaries for emergency subsidy programs.

The PhilSys shall provide proof of identity for all citizens and resident aliens to simplifying public and private transactions. It will also provide authentication services to government agencies and the private sector within a secure, reliable, and enabling digital ecosystem.

By 2022, it is targeted that majority of Filipinos and resident aliens will have been registered. However, starting this November, Five Million low-income household heads will be initially registered from the 40 priority areas including CALABARZON.
