The Sectroral Committee on infrastructure Development of the CALABARZON Regional Development Council along with the regional offices of DOST, DPWH, DTI and NEDA expressed its support to the finalization of the Masterplan of Priority Roads for the Polilio Group of Islands (PoGI) Road Network Development Project through the conduct of a coordination meeting on October 7 via teleconference. The PoGI Masterplan study is funded by the DPWH Region IV-A.
The PoGI is composed of the Municipalities of Polillo, Burdeos, Panukulan, Patnanungan, and Jomalig in Quezon. The islands are abundant in natural resources for tourism development and mari-culture industries. The PoGI Masterplan will provide a framework and policy direction to complete the PoGI road network which will connect major tourism destinations, agricultural/commercial areas and trading centers, including the identification of missing links and the timing of implementation of proposed road projects. Complementary transportation projects like ports and airports will be included in the masterplan to enhance not only the inter-connectivity of the PoGI, but also its connectivity to the Luzon Mainland. Other development projects in the areas of renewable energy, water and sanitation and ICT will also identified.
The DPWH Region IV-A will present the Masterplan to the Sectoral Committee on Infrastructure Development and the Regional Development Council for endorsement in the 4th quarter. After the RDC endorsement, the conduct of project feasibility studies and investment programming will commence in 2021.
