|The Provincial Government of Quezon under the leadership of Governor David C. Suarez hosted the 2nd Quarter 2016 Luzon Regional Development Committee (RDCom) Meeting last 14 June at the Queen Margaret Hotel, Lucena City. Mr. Webster Letargo and Mr. Jose Colar welcomed the RDCom members in behalf of Governor Suarez and Mayor Roderick Alcala of Lucena City, respectively.
Luzon RDCom Chairperson and Albay Governor Joey Salceda presided over the meeting. The RDCom endorsed the proposed relocation of the National Government Center in Metro Lucena in Quezon province. It can be a core project of the Luzon Spatial Development Framework 2015-2030. The proposal aims to spark discussion, seek stakeholders’ inputs and trigger the conduct of a national comprehensive study on the establishment of an efficient and effective national seat of government that would help accelerate balanced social and economic development among regions.
Also discussed were the NEDA Research and Development Utilization Fund Guidelines, ASEAN Economic Community Integration Workshop Output, and Report on the 7th Private Sector Representatives National Convention.
The meeting was attended by: RD Mila Rimando, Vice Chairperson of RDC CAR; RD Nestor Rillon, Vice Chairperson of RDC I; RD Mary Anne Darauay, Vice Chairperson of RDC II; RD Severino Santos, Vice Chairperson of RDC III; OIC-RD Luis Banua, Vice Chairperson of RDC IV-A; OIC-RD Agnes Espinas, Vice Chairperson of RDC V; OIC-ARD Bernardino Atienza, representing RDC IV-B; and Ms. Odessa Perez of the Quezon Provincial Planning and Development Office.
The Luzon RDCom serves as a venue to coordinate key development policies and programs for the whole of Luzon. The members are the RDC Chairperson or Co-Chairperson and Vice Chairpersons of Luzon.
The RDCom members inspected the proposed sites for the National Government Center which include the cities of Lucena and Tayabas, and the municipalities of Pagbilao, Sariaya, Candelaria and Tiaong in Quezon.
