The 4th Luzon Inter-RDC Secretariat Productivity Olympics (LIRSPO) was held from June 26 to 30, 2017 at the Southern Luzon State University (SLSU), Lucban, Quezon. It was attended by Secretariat of Luzon Regional Development Councils (RDCs) of Cordillera Administrative Region, Ilocos, Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, MIMAROPA and Bicol.
Undersecretary Adoracion Navarro and RDC IV-A Co-Chairperson Ladislao Andal graced the opening ceremony. Usec. Navarro shared that it was the first time that she was invited in an Olympics spearheaded by NEDA Regional Offices (NROs). She said that it was a good practice as the activity promotes camaraderie and sportsmanship among the regions. Usec. Navarro shared the plans of the NEDA Regional Development Office that will benefit all NROs. Dr. Milo Placino, President of SLSU, welcomed the participants.
The four-day activity included the cheerdance competition, team building games, zumba, basketball, volleyball, darts, badminton, chess, table tennis, free throw and three-point shootout. MIMAROPA Region was the overall champion as it garnered the highest total score. MIMAROPA also accepted the challenge to be the host of the 5th LIRSPO next year.
Secretary Dennis Hernandez, Presidential Adviser for Southern Tagalog, expressed his gratitude for being invited in the activity and encouraged the regions to continue supporting the advocacy of the current administration during the closing ceremony.
The LIRSPO is an annual activity which aims to promote active lifestyle, enhance camaraderie, and foster good working relationships among the Luzon RDC Secretariat.
