Calabarzon Regional Development Council (RDC) Private Sector Representatives (PSRs) participated in the 8th Private Sector Representatives (PSRs) National Convention at the Bellevue Resort, Panglao Island, Bohol on June 21 to 23, 2017. RDC IV-A Co-Chairperson, Engr. Ladislao L. Andal headed the delegation composed of 13 PSRs and representatives from NEDA Region IV-A.
The theme for this year’s RDC-PSR Convention is “Beyond 20/20: Defining the AmBisyon Natin 2040 Vision.” The convention is held every year to facilitate collaboration among PSRs and strengthen their role in regional development.
Socioeconomic Planning Secretary Ernesto M. Pernia discussed the new initiatives under the Philippine Development Plan 2017-2022 anchored on the Ambisyon Natin 2040. The Ambisyon Natin 2040 is a collective long-term vision of the Filipino people for themselves and for the country in the next 25 years. Secretary Pernia highlighted the role of the private sector in the development process and in the achievement of the long term vision. He urged the PSRs to collaborate and tap the potential of fringe regions to help spur growth outside urban areas.
The RDC IV-A PSRs actively participated in the discussions. In a break-out session, Engr. Andal shared the Calabarzon Traffic Management Strategic Plan. According to Engr. Andal their strategies include expanding road capacity and strengthening the capability of LGUs in traffic management and project development. Further, Mr. Richard Albert I. Osmond shared the Reactivation and Achievements of the Investment Promotions Group. He highlighted the accomplishments of the IPG including the utilization of the RDC fund to generate investments through promo collaterals and inbound and outbound missions.
