The Luzon Regional Development Committee (RDCom) through the leadership of Regional Development Council (RDC) Calabarzon Chairperson and Batangas Provincial Governor Hermilando I. Mandanas, discussed initial foundations on establishing physical infrastructure interconnectivity of regions in Luzon during the Third Quarter 2017 Luzon RDCom Meeting last August 8, 2017 at the Club Filipino, Greenhills in San Juan City.
RDC III Chairperson and Angeles City Mayor Edgardo D. Pamintuan added the importance of strengthening virtual connectivity in addition to physical connectivity. He further explained that a fast and reliable internet connection will greatly help in economic growth as well as improving public order and security.
Also discussed in the meeting were: a) revising the guidelines of the Energy Regulation (ER) No. 1-94 to directly remit the ER funds to its beneficiaries; b) advocacy on the release of internal revenue allotment (IRA) from the national treasury and proposed Constitutional amendments in relation to the just share of the LGUs in the IRA and local autonomy; and c) support to the Visayas RDCom resolution on proposed amendments to the Republic Act on increasing penalties/fines to overloaded trucks/trailers pending in Congress.
In attendance in the meeting were: RDC CAR Chairperson and Baguio City Mayor Mauricio G. Domogan, and RDC I Chairperson and Vigan City Mayor Juan Carlo S. Medina. Representing other RDC Chairpersons were Ms. Luz Baby Pascual for RDC V Chairperson and Albay Provincial Governor Al Francis C. Bichara, OIC Regional Director (RD) Ferdinand P. Tumaliuan for RDC II, and OIC-RD Susan A. Sumbeling for RDC MIMAROPA. Also present were RD Milagros A. Rimando of NEDA CAR, RD Severino C. Santos of NEDA Region III, OIC-Director Remedios S. Endencia of NEDA-Regional Development Staff and Ms. Irenea B. Ubungen of NEDA Region I.
