The Regional Development Council IV-A conducted the third Regional Women’s Month (RWM) Celebration on 28 March 2019 at Provincial Auditorium, Provincial Capitol Site, Batangas City. The celebration was a joint activity with the Batangas Provincial Women’s Month Celebration.
The event gathered more than 600 participants from the Provinces of Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, and Rizal as well as participants from different Regional and Provincial Line Agencies, students and People’s Organizations. It was graced by Governor Hermilando I. Mandanas, RDC Chairperson and host of the event; Engr. Landislao Andal, RDC Co-Chairperson; Atty. The guest speakers encouraged everyone to step up their commitment to women empowerment given the Region’s current initiatives and to substantially contribute to development towards Matatag, Maginhawa and Panatag na Buhay for all Filipinos.
The National Women’s Month theme, “We Make Change Work for Women” resounded in all the events. The celebration was able to spread awareness on the life and contribution of a Filipina heroine, Marcela Agoncillo, through a stage play “Roselang Bubog”, a production of Batangas High School for Culture and the Arts. Other activities include: a) zumba; b) poster-making contest, c) awarding of livelihood partnership projects of Samahang Batangagueña and CDO Foodsphere; d) service caravan from TESDA where participants enjoyed free manicure, pedicure and massage; and e) turn over ceremony of the RWM to Department of Agrarian Reform Region IV-A. It was capped with press briefing with TV Patrol Southern Tagalog on the RWM and other GAD initiatives of Region IV-A.
The Regional Women’s Month Celebration is being conducted annually to inform, engage, inspire and empower regional stakeholders to fully implement and localize the Magna Carta of Women.
