AFP Chief of Staff General Benjamin R. Madrigal, Jr. made a pitch to harmonize government efforts for peace and development during the Calabarzon Regional Development Council Reorganizational Meeting held on August 22, 2019 at NEDA IV-A, Calamba City, Laguna.
General Madrigal urged the local government units and government agencies to converge programs to address the insurgency and to protect the vulnerable areas. He highlighted the different strategies to address the issues in convergence such as harmonizing of capabilities and weaknesses among various government units, launching of oversight committees for monitoring of community support programs, and integration of the role of business sector and the civic society, among others. He called on the local chief executives to end insurgency in their areas by bridging the capabilities and programs of various agencies.
In support to this call, the RDC approved the conduct of joint Regional Development Council and Regional Peace and Order Council meetings as a venue to integrate peace and development.
