The Sectroral Committee on infrastructure Development (SCID) of the CALABARZON RDC conducted a series of coordination meetings for the preparation of Masterplan of Priority Roads for the Polilio Group of Islands (PoGI) Road Development Project on June 3 and 8 via teleconference. The meetings were participated by the regional offices of DOST, DPWH, NEDA and project consultants. The POGI Masterplan study is funded by the DPWH Region IV-A and will be prepared by DCCD Partners and Co. in Association with KGC Partners Co.
The PoGI is composed of the municipalities of Polillo, Burdeos, Panukulan, Patnanungan, and Jomalig in Quezon. The POGI is abundant in natural resources for tourism development and mariculture industries that will help boost the economy and promote inclusive growth in the islands. POGI is identified as one of the Geographically Isolated and Disadvantaged Areas in CALABARZON.
The PoGI Masterplan will provide a framework and policy direction to complete the PoGI road network which connects major tourism destinations, agricultural/commercial areas and trading centers, including the identification of missing links and the timing of implementation of proposed road projects. Other ports and airports projects that will complement the road projects will also be identified.
Through the coordination meetings, a comprehensive approach was reached in conducting the study and enhanced the evaluation criteria in prioritizing the roads for the PoGI Masterplan. It was also agreed during the meeting to create a PoGI Masterplan – TWG, to be led by DPWH, that will oversee the implementation of the Masterplan and its programs and projects.
The PoGI Masterplan is expected to be completed this year and will be presented to the RDC for endorsement.
