RDC-PSRs with RD Luis G. Banua of NEDA Region IV-A, OIC-RD Gina T. Gacusan of NEDA Region III, Ms. Lorreinne Judith Marie G. Juanani of TESDA Region IV-A, and the NEDA Region IV-A staff.

The CALABARZON Regional Development Council (RDC) Private Sector Representatives (PSRs) discussed the Adopt-A-Family (AAF) Initiative during their 2nd Quarter Coordination Meeting on May 27. The AAF is an RDC PSRs-led initiative which aims to provide a sustainable support system for families that were vulnerable to socioeconomic risks, and whose conditions were even more aggravated by the effects of the COVID 19 Pandemic.

Through the AAF, the PSRs in partnership with different agencies and private organizations, will provide assistance to the selected beneficiaries in the region. This will build their capacity and ensure that they have sustainable means to stay out of poverty. Target beneficiaries are families with income under poverty threshold, living within areas in the region with high poverty incidence, and were economically affected by COVID-19. Potential sponsors are individuals, companies, corporations, and organizations who are willing and able to provide the needed support to the beneficiaries.

A series of preparatory activities will be spearheaded by the PSRs starting this quarter which include the preparation of guidelines, identification, evaluation and selection of beneficiaries, and identification of possible sponsors. Provision of assistance is targeted to start by the 4th quarter of 2021.

The PSRs also discussed during the meeting the complementary assistance of the private sector to the training and scholarship programs of the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) Region IV-A.
