The NEDA Regional Office (NRO) IV-A through its Project Monitoring and Evaluation Division conducted an orientation to Region VIII via Zoom on June 3 on the implementation of its CALABARZON Project Monitoring System (cPMS). The orientation was requested by NRO VIII to look into the possibility of adopting the said online project monitoring system in their region. Member agencies, academe, private sector representatives of the RDC Region VIII, and NRO VIII staff attended the orientation.

The cPMS was a Re-entry Project in the Development Academy of the Phlippines – Public Management Development Program of an NRO IV-A staff which was approved by the RDC in 2015 for implementation. Likewise, the cPMS website was developed by another NRO IV-A staff. The cPMS started its operation as a web-based application in the submission of Regional Project Monitoring and Evaluation System (RPMES) reports by implementing agencies and provinces, and for publication of RPMES news in 2016.

Director Bonifacio Uy of NRO VIII expressed his appreciation to the orientation provided by NRO IV-A. He shared that the proposal for the development of an online project monitoring system in Region VIII started two years ago as suggested by one of their private sector representatives. The proposal was adopted by their sectoral committees, as well as several consultative meetings were conducted with concerned stakeholders of Eastern Visayas Region on the proposed system.

On the other hand, Director Luis Banua, in his message, highlighted the importance of cPMS as it answers for the call for greater transparency and accountability, and showcases the work of the government to the people. He further shared the other M&E advocacies in CALABARZON such as the Searches for Outstanding Project Implementers and Local Project Monitoring Committees, and GAD M&E Tool.

The participants also provided some suggestions on the improvement of the cPMS, and were gratefully accepted by NRO IV-A. The NRO VIII looks forward for further coordination with NRO IV-A during the development of their online project monitoring system.
