The SCID conducts its second quarter meeting via Zoom video conference.

The CALABARZON Sectoral Committee on Infrastructure Development (SCID) endorsed to the Regional Development Council for approval the creation of Sub-Committee on Transport Management during its second quarter meeting on May 12. The creation of the Sub-Committee was proposed to widen the sectoral mandates of the Technical Working Group on Transport Management.

The main functions of the Sub-Commitee include the following: a) facilitate and monitor implementation of the transportation laws and programs in the Region, b) recommend actions or measures to address transportation-related issues, c) endorse transport-related programs, projects and policies, and d) and advocate transport management initiatives at the regional level. The Sub-Committee members will include the regional offices of LTO, DILG, NEDA, LTFRB, DPWH, DENR-EMB, DOST, DOH, DOT, PSA, DepEd, and CDA, PPA Batangas, PPA MarQuez, Batangas State University, League of Planners in Region IV-A, five provinces, and two RDC private sector representatives.

The Committee also discussed the Philippine Water Supply and Sanitation Master Plan (PWSSMP) which was presented by NEDA OIC-Undersecretary Roderick Planta. The PWSSMP identified key results areas such as establishing effective WSS institution, strengthening regulatory environment, creating and ensuring effective WSS services, and balancing water supply and demand, among others.

As presented, the region has improved its access to sanitation, which is higher than the national level, but still has limited access to basic sanitation. The SCID agreed to assist in dissemination and promotion of the PWSSMP. Moreover, a CALABARZON Water Summit will be conducted to further discuss water security and management in the region.
